Bradford Foodbank Donation

On Friday 13 December, Dixons City Academy was filled with festive spirit as students and staff came together to celebrate our annual Christmas Jumper Day. This much-anticipated event saw the school community embrace the holiday season while supporting an important cause.

Students were invited to swap their usual school jumper for a festive Christmas jumper or, for those without one, a jumper in seasonal colours like red or green. The vibrant display of holiday cheer brought a smile to everyone’s face, reinforcing our shared sense of community and joy.

This year, Christmas Jumper Day also had a charitable focus, as we collected food donations for Bradford Central Foodbank to help those in need within our local community. Our students and staff truly embodied our academy values of respect, integrity, and determination, bringing in an impressive variety of items, including teabags, pasta, rice, tinned foods, biscuits, and coffee. During Morning Meeting, form tutors collected donations from students, which were then organized for delivery. The generosity shown by our academy community was truly heartwarming, and the donations will go a long way in supporting families in need this holiday season.

A special highlight of the event was the involvement of four members of the Student Council, who helped deliver the donations to Bradford Central Foodbank. This experience allowed them to see firsthand the impact a collective effort can have on those most in need within our wider community. The students were inspired by the gratitude of the foodbank staff and left with a deep sense of pride in how Dixons City Academy had come together to make a difference.

We are incredibly proud of our students for their enthusiasm and willingness to give back. Events like these remind us of the importance of community spirit and the difference we can make when we work together.
